Carrot
 

 

It is a biennial plant, a genus of the family Apiaceous, which has an edible thick root in the first year and produce seed in the second year of growing.

Although carrots are available all the year round in all markets, locally grown carrots appear in the early of spring and late summer when they are the freshest and most flavorful. Carrots, which are produced in autumn and winter, known as serotonin type. In some region of Iran, which has a relatively mild winter, carrot's seeds may not be cultivated.

FAO reports China to be major carrot - producer country worldwide.

In today's commercial marketplace, China currently produces about one-third of total carrots bought and sold worldwide. Russia is the second largest carrot producer with the USA following close.
